Q6. results graph

What's "Emerging media" all about?
A monthly demonstration for library staff at the State Library and Queensland public libraries of emerging new media and technologies developed.
  • Do your eyes glaze over when someone mentions Web 2.0?
  • Do your wikis mashup with widgets?
  • Do you get your technology advice from your kids and grandchildren?

Be amazed and discover at these new monthly sessions highlighting technologies that are being used (or have the potential to be used) by our clients and some libraries.

(The sessions are not designed to replace hands-on training workshops.)

Content

Each session will focus on a variety of new and existing technologies, including demonstrations of use (including some library implementations).

Participants are encouraged to attend sessions and to review and contribute content via this wiki.

Challenges
Contribute to the SLQ wiki – link to personal community space i.e. Flickr, MySpace, Del.icio.us. More information to come...

Session objectives
  • To provide opportunity for library staff from slq and Queensland public libraries to be exposed to existing and new media and technologies, increasing awareness and information literacy skills.
  • To provide opportunity for participants to review use of new technologies in libraries

I too am very new and have little time to practice but it would seem a much faster way to commmunicate with a group of people.

I'm new to this and I must admit I find this website a bit confusing. Took me a while to realise I had to scroll right down to the bottom of the page to post a thread. I guess I'll get the hang of it in time. The concept of a shared site is good and saves the email overload problem. Keeping up with all the new technology is challenging though..will we ever have time to get out into the fresh air and sunshine again?
