How to use this wikiThis is a featured page

All visitors are welcome to view and comment on the wiki (comments will be moderated). To contribute to the wiki itself, you must apply to be a writer. To do so, click the 'Apply to be a writer' button on the right of the page. If we approve your account you will become a 'writer' on this wiki. There are other levels of user permissions within Wetpaint, which they describe as follows:

Registered Users
Registered users are able to add comments, watch pages, customize their profile page and invite others to become registered users of the community.

Writers
Writers help build the content on a site by adding and editing content, creating pages, and by inviting others to join the community.

Moderators
Moderators help manage and guide the community in addition to creating content for the site. Moderators have the ability to move or delete pages, lock pages from being edited, promote members of the community to new roles, and ban disruptive users from the site.

Administrators
Administrators have full permissions including the ability to view all reports, modify all pages, and adjust the site settings to change the look of the site.

All contributors to this wiki are asked to adhere to the following wiki-etiquette guidelines:

  • Some sections of pages, such as the upcoming schedule of sessions are not for general editing, however other sections may be freely and regularly updated (such as the 'Possible Section Topics' page).
  • Please be very selective about deletions. Whenever possible, add information to a page rather then editing or deleting. If you do choose to delete information, be sure to add a note in the pop-up box as to why the information was deleted.
  • If you would like to simply discuss or provide feedback on the content of a page, use the comments at the bottom of the page to do so.

After looking at several of the example of wikis around the world it looks like they could be a great asset if used properly and updated regularly. I was suprised to see a wiki that you had to pay to be a member of before you could view any information (seems to defeat the idea of a wiki)

My examination of wikis, prompted by the Licence 2 Test Drive program, has highlighted the potential of them. They can be a fantastic way to reach out to your library clients and engage them enough to participate back. Wikis can also be considered a device to provide up to date information at the fingertips of library staff, along with providing an avenue for them to contribute to their production.

What a great idea. You can contribute your thoughts to a group of people with similar interests. Could be handy when sharing storytime ideas???
